Fixing Dark Areas
Question:
The buildings are too dark in this photo.
I tried the Brightness control, but the sky turned white, and
it didn't look like an evening shot. How do I fix it?

Answer:
01) Choose
the magic wand tool on the floating
tool menu.
02) Set the tolerance of
the magic wand to 42. Click somewhere in the sky of the image. Hold
the SHIFT key down and you will see a "+" appear next to the wand
cursor. This allows you to continue selecting, adding to the area
already selected. Click the various areas of the sky until it is
completely selected.

03) When
the sky is completely selected, use the top menu option, Select,
then Inverse.

04) Use
the top menu option, Image,
then Auto Levels. You
won't see much change, but it is actually giving you denser colors
in that dark area for later steps.

05) Use
the top menu option, Image, then Equalize.
06) Use
the top menu option, Edit, then Fade
Equalize. Fade to 35 percent Opacity.

Now
you are seeing some progress in the image below, but there's more
to come.

07) Use
the top menu option, Select, then Deselect.
08) Use the top menu option, Image,
then Hue/Saturation. Set the Saturation level
to 35.

Your image should now look
similar to the one below, ready to use on your website.
