Azkend does have a story about a "mysterious artifact" you need to find, but it is so well presented, teasing out the clues, that you get drawn into it. Azkend Review - "Azkend is a great "Match-3", easy to play, and the Talisman system of powerups is a neat touch! Once you collect an AzkendTalisman, it adds to your "war chest", and you can select whatever Talisman you like for each Level after that. Talismans only match with each other, rather than being wildcards like in other such games, but when you match 4 or more of them, they "detonate", or call down meteors, etc. And the Azkend Lightning Meter is even better. With the Azkend Lightning Meter you highlight tiles, and if they're on the blue stuff you have to break (Just like boards in similar games), you get a lightning-bolt, or more than 1, if you have a really long matched set. And later, you get Talismans that give you MORE lightning-bolts, so you can REALLY make a thunderstorm! Azkend is sort of easy to win, but hard to get an Expert Score--and unlike other games, you can't go back again! The timer goes faster and faster on each successive Level, so while the first few Levels are almost automatic, later ones are quite difficult, no matter what Talisman you choose. The oriental music is captivating. The Azkend story hooked me in from the first, you are cleverly drawn in with just enough clues to keep you guessing and wanting more. The match 3 gameplay is normal: talismans that must be manipulated to the bottom and includes the end of level tile breaking once you turn all tiles blue. The thing about Azkend is the time limits are relentless. You are constantly striving to beat the timer. And the matches get more difficult as to proceed with "obstacle" tiles, like steel tiles and locked tiles. But fill your Thunder Meter with five special tiles, and an equal number of electrified bolts crash onto the screen, randomly destroying certain items and coloring in their tiles. Also you get bonus lightning strikes for larger sequences of matched tiles. If you get enough talismans and match items that correspond to them in a level, you get a HUGE explosion! The Azkend mini games are like "where's Waldo". I found Azkend beautiful and fun, I really recommend it."- Gaming Girl
