Las Vegas Vacation Diary
Day Eighteen: The Riviera and Circus Circus Adventure Dome
We used the 24-hour bus ticket to go down to the Riviera and took lots of pictures of slot machines. The Riveria is one of the older casinos that keeps good shows running and have managed to stay alive. The Food court was OK, we had breakfast there. They had a display of Liberace's Car. He played at the Riviera for many years. |

The Riviera casino security was very accommodating when we asked permission to take pictures so we should be able to put together a very good screensaver of the slots machines of Las Vegas and the Casino Neon (interiors). There are often quite elaborate interior neon displays and some of the casinos are kept in a perpetual twilight to make the evenings of gaming and playing seem to go on forever. |
What's on the Strip?-Walking the Las Vegas Strip - Stop Nine- The Riviera and Circus Circus
We walked across the street to Circus Circus to get a player’s card (disappointing, it was very plain) and while searching for the player’s desk, discovered that the casino is joined to a more modern hotel tower and The Adventure Dome in the back.
I believe they built the Circus Circus casino first, and then kept adding to the complex. This means that the rooms at the Circus Circus hotel are not as old as the casino. I have noticed that sometimes they sell at a better price than further down the strip. The location is not bad, but it would be a long walk down to the Wynn, Venetian and Treasure Island, but there is a trolley-stop there and, of course the bus stops all along the Strip. I don’t think any of the Monorail stops would be too convenient. But if you had kids, you might not want to go anywhere else because the Adventure Dome is a kids’ paradise. |

The Adventure Dome is really neat. It is a full-scale amusement park all under an air-conditioned dome. The rides are suitable for all ages of kids. They had roller coasters, water rides, a beautiful merry go round and all sorts of carny games. We look loads of pictures. Here is one of the seriously scary Chaos ride. |
We had lunch and caught the Circus Circus internal trolley to the front of the building. It was a three minute ride at best, and it must have been built when they didn't have direct walk ways between the old and the new buildings.
We took the Strip Trolley back to the Imperial Palace ($2 each) and bought newspapers, magazines and watched DVD's on the laptop. We are getting very tired and most of our curiosity about Vegas has been satisfied, now.
Did a little preliminary packing.
