Day Eight: Harrah's and Mac King Magic Show

Today we packed up three suitcases to leave in storage at the Imperial Palace while we are in Phoenix. We sent them down to storage and went over to Harrah's to photograph the slot machines and tape slot sounds. |
There is an afternoon magic show at Harrah’s with Mac King and we had complimentary tickets (handed to us on the street) with a one drink cover charge of $7.95 each. Well, why not, so we went, and it was really good.

Mac King does a comedy magic show. No tigers, but there is a man in a bear costume in one of the acts, but I won’t spoil the surprise. It was a good show, lots of hand tricks and a few disappearing tricks. Mac King is really funny, too. We got the tickets outside Harrah’s near the shops and stalls beside Ghiradelli’s. We got them on the second day we were here, but we had them offered to us several times, I think mostly in the daytime and on week days. There were two tickets, one of Mac King and one to Ron Lucas over at the Rio. |

The Rio is off the strip, but there is a free shuttle
that runs from the back of Harrah’s starting at 10:00 AM in the
morning and ending at 2:00 AM (I think). It runs every 15 or 30 minutes.

We had a Ghiradelli chocolate sundae while we waited for the show time. After the show we went to Denny's for supper. Denny’s is on the same side of the strip as Harrah’s and up toward the Venetian. You walk past MacDonald’s and the Casino Royale to get to Denny’s. |

Stop 06 on Walking the Las Vegas Strip - Night views around Harrah's
We have scheduled an early start - 5:00 AM - for the airport. They recommend 2 hours minimum, but we didn't know how long the shuttle would take to make it around back to the airport, so we need to be up to catch a 6:00 AM shuttle appointment for a 9:30 flight.
