Las Vegas Vacation Diary
Day One: Explore the Las Vegas Monorail and the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton.
I took a melatonin tablet last night and slept most of the night and am still up at 4:00 in the afternoon. Today we went on the monorail to all the stops. Only went inside the Las Vegas Hilton for the Star Trek Experience, but took pictures of all the Las Vegas monorail stops and all the trains. |

At the Las Vegas Hilton, we went to the "Star Trek Experience" There are two attractions, The Klingon Adventure and the Borg Invasion, plus a nice set of Star Trek museum displays for people to read when there is a queque. The "Klingon Adventure" was really one of the simulated rides that you read about. |
The Klingon Adventure jolted and jumped and the list of those who should not go on it was long, but I took my back pillow and was OK, however, I don't think we will be going on any more of those types of rides while we are here. The second Star Trek Experience attraction was "The Borg Invasion", which was in 4D (that's 3D plus a seat that provides physical stimulations. The 3D effects were EXCELLENT. All in all, it was very worthwhile. |

We checked with the Star Trek Experience operator about their restrictions for people with pacemakers, and they said it was not a restriction for the electric properties of the pacemaker, but for the intense movement for people who have recently had one hooked up. As I type, my neck is a little sore, so I guess everyone will have to do their own medical evaluation, but I think any Star Trek fan should see the Star Trek Experience museum exhibits and do the Borg Invasion ride, for sure. And everyone should definitely ride the Las Vegas Monorail. |
Ken is taking a nap. He doesn't believe in Melatonin, and besides he has developed a heavy case of hay fever or something and has taken an antihistamine today. I think it is making him tired. Also the 16 hour plane ride and the desert climate have really affected our sinuses, so a bottle of saline solution nose spray is a good idea.
We had a lovely breakfast this morning. As you know American breakfasts are an addiction of ours. The buffets here in Vegas are legendary.
We bought a daily ticket for the monorail, so if Ken wakes up we might go down to the Paris observation deck to see the Bellagio Fountains tonight. It is rather chilly here, about 70-75. I'll be wearing one of my jumpers tonight if we go out.
Tickets for the Las Vegas Monorail are available in the hotels at machines and at the stations at machines. It is $15 for an all day (24 hour) ticket for one person; $35 for a 10-ride ticket that two or more people can use; and $5 for a single trip ticket. You can also purchase a $9.00 ticket good for 2 rides, that you can share. One person can get on and off the system twice, or two people can get on and off the system once. |

Tomorrow night we go to The Legends show, which is the star attraction here at the Imperial Palace. During the day we plan to go to the new Wynn Hotel, I think, and see the Guggenheim museum at the Venetian.
As the Monorail runs behind the hotels, we haven't really been on the strip yet. Tomorrow.
I think the laptop is going to do really well. However, I may have to eat my words, or fax these words from the business centre, as we haven't signed up on the wireless internet yet.
