Las Vegas Vacation Diary
Day 0: Fly from Melbourne, arrive at Las Vegas Airport, Check in at Imperial Palace Hotel.

Well, we made it to Las Vegas, but even though we got a little sleep on the way over, we were pretty tired while we waited for the 2:50 PM plane to Las Vegas. We flew Qantas out of Melbourne and left the airport at about 11:00 AM. Flew for 15 hours and landed in LA at about 8:00 AM in the morning. Then we had to stay awake for the American Airlines afternoon flight to Vegas. |

I don't know who else flies straight through from Australia, but there might not be too many. I won’t do it again. I would much rather be in a hotel room in the LA airport area than sitting in the airport departure lounge, trying to stay awake when my body thinks it is 3:00 AM in the morning. There were several other Aussies sleeping in their chairs as we waited and a whole group of Japanese who looked pretty tired. |

We got to the Imperial Palace Hotel about 4:30 and were pleasantly surprised to find that we could have a room with two beds and could possibly have the two beds for next week, at least.
We will spend two nights in the "luv tub" room with the spa bath, beginning Friday. We had to take three different parcels of room reservations to get 10 days in the Imperial Palace this week, and although we requested two beds, the only way to guarantee that was to call the hotel direct when we made the reservation. Since we didn’t get any discount because we booked on the Imperial Palace website, it certainly would have been the better thing to do.

Anyway, it all worked out for this segment. We have two more room changes before we fly to Phoenix and then a single reservation when we get back. We are guaranteed two beds next week. I am hoping for the larger room when we get back.
