Romance of Rome Game is a hidden objects game that sticks to its theme. You are asked to find objects that are appropriate to the historical Roman theme in Romance of Rome. There is a slightly different mechanism which shows you pictures instead of a list. This is quite clever of Romance of Rome, because many complaints of hidden objects games come from non-English speakers and speakers of various types of English. They just don't know what a flashlight is, when it is a "torch" or know what a burning "torch" is when everyone knows it is an electrical hand spotlight. (see what I mean) Romance of Rome doesn't make this mistake. I would think the picture thing also might make Romance of Rome easier to play for younger children, and thus make Romance of Rome a pretty good cultural education experience.

I feel that THIS is what hidden object games should be like. While 'Romance of Rome' still has the typical cluttered scenes, you won't find yourself staring at objects that are completely out of place for the theme of the game. In other words, you won't be asked to look for telephones and paperclips and things like that.
An interesting feature of Romance of Rome is that you are never told in words what to look for... you are always given pictures. In spite of this, the challenge level remains similar to that of games that give you a list of words. I liked the added challenge of having to find special objects to interact with special objects (break open a vase, etc.).
The story is well done, too, or at least it's as good as any story you're ever likely to see in a casual game. It made sense and was amusing. The voice-overs were a wonderful touch, and the voice acting was high quality.
My only complaint is that Romance of Rome was a bit too easy, but since I play a lot of HOGs I guess I tend to think they're all easy. Anyway, this was extremely fun, with fantastic graphics and a good story, so I highly recommend Romance of Rome and wish there were more like it!" - Gondalier

Romance of Rome Game Review - "Rome has lots to offer. This is one of the better and more engaging HO games. It has great graphics, nice sounds, and the story line fits in wonderfully.

There are 7 Episodes in all, in each one 3 extra tasks need to be done for each of the 3 characters in each episode. With each found objects you get a different amount of gold (there are also extra gold coins in each scene), with which you can buy stuff later from the market.
