David
Roberts traveled in Egypt in the early 1800's.
He produced six volumes of prints from Egypt, Nubia,
and other areas of the Middle East. These prints
were taken from his large, detailed watercolor
paintings. His paintings show Egypt as it was before
the monuments
were restored. All images in the screensaver have
been enhanced to show the vibrant colors of Cairo
and the heiroglyphic details and delicate colors
of the pharaonic ruins that Roberts painstakingly
captured in his watercolors. Roberts painted these
pictures on his travels
up the Nile in 1838
and
1839.
The Egypt
of David Roberts Screensaver includes 49 of these Egyptian paintings, and a portrait
of David Roberts dressed in Arab garb. Egypt of David
Roberts is one of our most popular screensavers.
