I went to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine with three other adults, and they all thought that it was an OK movie, quite entertaining. I'm the only one who was a long-time Marvel Comics reader. So, I had a different perspective, having read about two dozen Wolverine titles over the years. He's not one of my favorite Marvel characters.
Parts of the movie were fine. Wolverine's early history was well presented, but not accurately, in my purist view. However other parts (New Orleans and Three Mile Island) were kind of a drag, so that the overall effect on me was disappointment. I always wonder why the script writers feel that the origins printed story is not good enough for the movie (e.g. The Fantastic Four). The best examples of the superhero genre - Spider-Man and Iron Man - don't mess around much with the established history of the characters.
The highlight of X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the character of Victor Creed (Wolverine's brother - only in this movie), played by Liev Schreiber with gusto. This character will later take the name Sabertooth.
I can only mildly recommend X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and perhaps only to those who are not Marvel Comics purists (we are so hard to please).
