Time management has not been my strong
point in the last few weeks, so I've missed a few reviews.
So here is a micro review of the films I've not had
time to review properly:
Lemony
Snicket - Three orphans
suffer some unfortunate events. The subtitles of
the baby's conversation are priceless. It has been
justly compared to the stylings of a Tim Burton film,
without Tim Burton at the helm. It has quite a few
weak points, but worth seeing.
Sponge
Bob Square Pants - I
didn't like it too much. I saw a derivative whisper
of the genius of my favorite cartoon series - Ren
and Stimpy - but this one just didn't hit my funny
bone. I can't recommend it.
Ray -
The story of the legendary blind musician and performer
Ray Charles. Excellent. Go see it. You'll remember
this film long after the others on this page.
Sky
Captain and the World of Tomorrow -
When robots (of any kind) were on the screen my attention
was riveted. This film has a great look, but I found
I had to make too many excuses for the lapses in
the plot. Also, the "resurrection" of
Laurence Olivier to play the villain was underwhelming.
Sorry, no DVD sale this time.
