Bad
Santa is
good. Not Santa, but the movie, directed by Terry
Zwigoff.
Billy Bob Thornton
is terrific as Santa, the alcoholic safe cracker.
Tony Cox plays the little person\dwarf\midget (there
is a discussion in the film about which term is politically
correct) who masterminds their burglaries and is
also Santa's
elf. Lauren Graham plays Sue, a bar waitress who
has a "forbidden love" fixation on Santa,
or the idea of Santa. Bernie Mac is Gin, the store
detective out to get a large share of the haul.
The late John Ritter is super as the store manager
who
sees
unsettling glimpses of the dark side of Santa (his
only side really), but can't fire him because of
possible perceptions of racism and discrimination
against the handicapped.
And then there's the
overweight kid, Thurman Merman, played by Brett Kelly
with great
appeal, who latches on to Santa as his only friend.
This
movie
contains swearing (as in "lots of"), sex, and humor.
So be warned.
