Daniel Craig is back in fine form as James Bond in Quantum of Solace, sequel to Casino Royale. I think is fair to say that while Sean Connery will remain the iconic Bond, Craig has taken Bond into a new century (and new territory) with a kind of hard-edged grit and explosive physicality not seen before against the backdrop of a complex storyline where Bond discerns the villians only by their actions, in a world where friend and foe blur together. He has truly rebooted the franchise.
Quantum of Solace picks up where Casino Royale left off, with Bond seeking those behind the death of his lost love, Vesper. M is concerned that Bond is off the rails and killing anyone associated with Vesper's death as he follows leads to uncover the shadowy organization that planted an assassin among M's personal body guards.
The action is riviting, the pace is fast, and the movie is a success. There is only one minor flaw - the opening theme song by Jack White and (somebody) just sucks. Sony has stuck their flavor-of-the-month act into the mix for business purposes I presume. However, the musical soundtrack for the body of the movie is superbly composed by David Arnold, one of the best since the great John Barry was at the helm of scoring the Bond movies.
