House
of Flying Daggers has
been described as a beautiful movie with a muddy
plot. I agree with the "beautiful" comment; however,
the plot is not muddy. I found it easy, and pleasing
to follow. This is basically a love story with a
few twists, and some not so unexpected turns. Still,
I guess it is fair to say that the sheer beauty of
the film overshadows the plot. I don't believe I've
seen a film this crisp, with such rich color, in
quite some time.
The artistry of the
actions scenes - sword fights, horse riding, tree
running, etc. - is a cut above anything I've seen
before in Hidden Dragon
Crouching Tiger or Zatoichi.
Some of it actually thrilled me to chill bumbs.
I'm sure you will find
a lot to like in this film. Go see it.
