Alien
Vs. Predator (aka
AVP) should
have been very much better, given that there are three
perfectly fine books published in 1994 that
could have been converted into the screenplay. The
writers of the AVP movie
script have chosen to use a plot based on what I would
call
a Nintendo pyramid - which
is probably OK for a video game, but not for a movie.
Of course, people who
have read the AVP books and\or graphic novels will
be largely disappointed by the
movie, which only gets rolling with any excitement
in the last 30 minutes of the film. Even then, it's
too
little too late. Why waste any footage on people getting
implanted with larvae, or being snatched up by the
Aliens, as has been done ad-infinitum in other films?
Who is
this film for? It should have been for the fans. What
a lost opportunity this is. Just think what James Cameron
could have done with this.
