First up, Avatar is a top quality movie, just as you would expect from writer and director James Cameron. I found it very entertaining. The story of a soldier Marine intruding on the world of Pandora and becoming absorbed physically and spiritually by the indigenous culture in true harmony with nature is excellent. Pandora is brilliantly imagined, and the dragons are just really outstanding.

However, I didn't see the technological advances reported to be present in this movie. The 3D effect is no different than that in previous "Real D 3D" movies, and the CGI characters seem no more advanced than Gollem in Lord of the Rings.

So, there you go - a fine movie, but not ground-breaking, not a leap into the future of film-making. See it and enjoy!
