This seems to be marketed as an improved version of Jets'n'guns, so then, why would you pay $30 for what appears to be an add-on to a game you already own? Well, very simply, you wouldn't, because this isn't an add-on. This here, is what we call an expansion. It contains all the content from the original game plus double the ships, weapons, levels, you name it, it has been EXPANDED, even the resolution size.
