Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose Review - "In my opinion Dark Parables: Curse of the Briar Rose is one of the best games ever created. Truly.
It's gorgeous, well crafted, long playing (over 4 hours for me, on par with Dire Grove) challenging but not toooo hard.
One of the most notable differences between Dark Parables: Curse of the Briar Rose and other offerings is it is the only truly non-linear games I've played in the casual game world. Not completely, no game can be or you could do the last bit first, but within a gently guided progression you can go many different directions. I HATE when a game has clearly visible tasks not yet unlocked because you haven't gotten there yet (Haunted Manor: Lord of Mirrors springs to mind ) but this
truly felt like a wander with a great deal of free will, not being locked on a course, picking up inventory that will be needed at some point then getting the, "Ah ha!" when you find where it goes... Clearly this would be a difficult thing to design which is why we don't see it hardly ever.
Dark Parables: Curse of the Briar Rose had me wanting to play desperately when I did the Beta. *Almost* had me sold on the CE (and I still might once I can talk to Customer Service and see about an "upgrade") and tonight, after buying, I had intended to just play an hour, maybe a smidge more.... that was 4+ hours ago." - GameGirl
Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose Review - "Just finished the trial and I'm going to buy tonight. Beautiful graphics and peaceful play worked for me.
I was pleasantly surprised to realize we actually got morphing objects in this standard game, unlike what happened when only the CE of Dire Grove had them.
What a hoot when I saw a cow pop out of a 2nd story window. Then they called the morphing objects cursed and told me I've now found 2 of 20. Gotta keep eyes peeled for them! " - FairyPrincess
Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose Review - "I too' loved Dark Parables: Curse of the Briar Rose. Great graphics and I didn't get lost as much as I tend too. It was fun to go wander around and find new stuff. No timer, no pressure. I was pleased to be able to leave a puzzle and come back to it and not have to start from scratch. Played the no hint one as well and enjoyed it just as much. Didn't need a Walkthrough at all, as things did
tend to turn up eventually. Thank you . Looking forward to the next Dark Parable " - Galloping Gamer
Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose Review - "
Really enjoyed Dark Parables: Curse of the Briar Rose - in fact, I couldn't stop playing it, which is unusual for me. Just hard enough without being too taxing - the perfect thing for a rainy day. FOUR OF FIVE STARS - glad I bought it and I'll be looking forward to the Frog Prince! " - Gaming4Fun
Dark Parables: Curse of Briar Rose Review - " I do not like fragmented object games. But... I loved Dark Parables: Curse of the Briar Rose! Held my interest from start to finish. Gameplay flows smoothly from one scene to another. I found myself wandering a couple of times, but that's 'cause I couldn't remember where a particuliar room was. I really like this style of IHOG, reminds me of Return to Ravenhearst." - HOG Lover
